Butler pulls away from Dodge City to win regular season finale

The Butler women finished the regular season on a high note with a 55-39 win over Dodge City on Saturday at the Power Plant.

The Grizzlies struggled in the early going against Dodge City, even trailing at times in the first half before pulling ahead to a 25-21 lead at halftime. In the second half, Butler continued to pull away, eventually leading by as many as 17 points late in the game.

Jamillah Bonner led all scorers with 17 points and had a team-high eight rebounds, while Tysia Manuel scored 16 points. Je'nae Strong was Dodge City's leading scorer with nine points.

With the win, Butler enters the postseason with a 17-13 record and finish 6-10 in conference play. That gives the Grizzlies the sixth seed from the Jayhawk West, putting them on the road in the first round of the playoffs on Wednesday at Coffeyville, which is the third seed from the Jayhawk East with a record of 15-15 overall and 9-9 in conference.
