Butler uses big second half to handle Allen, 72-48

The Butler women returned to their winning ways with another blowout win on Tuesday at Allen County, but this time the Grizzlies needed a lopsided second half to pull away from the Red Devils in a 72-48 win.

Butler started quickly, jumping to an 13-5 win early on. Allen, however, would finish the first half with a flurry of points and trailed just 29-26 at the intermission.

The Grizzlies would dominate the start of the second half. The Grizzlies scored the first 10 points of the second half to lead 39-26 and defensively held Allen County without a field goal for more than nine minutes to start the period.

By that point, Butler had a 21-point lead and would not look back on its way to the win. It is the sixth win of the season by 23 or more points for the Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies were led by 17 points from Tysia Manuel, her second best offensive output of the season behind 18 points she had at St. Gregory's (Okla.). Butler also got 12 points from Ashlee Ivy. It is the third time this season she has been in double figures for Butler. Samantha Satterlee had eight points and Shayla Whitebird scored seven.

Butler is now 7-1 on the season. The Grizzlies face a stiff test on Saturday when they travel to Concorida to take on Iowa Western on a neutral court. The Reviers are 6-0 on the season and ranked eighth nationally.
