Butler sets two records in 115-24 road win at St. Gregory's

Shawnee, Okla. - Friday night the Butler Lady Grizzlies traveled to Shawnee, Okla. for a contest that quickly turned into a blowout. En route to the 115-24 win, there were once again records that were set for the second time this season. The 115 points scored was a new Butler School record erasing the previous high of 111 set in 1987 versus Oklahoma Junior College. Defensively, the 24 points that St Gregory's scored was the second fewest that any Butler Women's basketball team has ever given up. The record for the fewest points allowed came in 1997 against Highland (21).

"I'm very proud of what our team accomplished tonight," coach Mike Helmer said. "We always talk about 'at the end of your career how you want to be remembered?' I think this was a step forward for our team in that way."

Another record that was set was the 48 field goal attempts made breaking the previous mark of 43 versus Air Force Prep in 1987.

All 11 players that suited up marked the score book for the Grizzlies. Jamillah Bonner once again paced the Grizzlies with 19 points, Tysia Manuel had 18, Samantha Satterlee had 16, Shayla Williams had 14, Chelsea Hodison had 12, Aaliyah Rutledge had 10,  Ashlee Ivy with seven, Katie Andersen  and Shayla Whitebird with six apiece and Carly Bettencourt and Bethany Howard each finished with four points apiece.

Through four games this season, the Grizzlies are averaging 92.5 points per contest while holding their opponents to 47.5 points.  The Grizzlies are now 4-0 on the season and travel to Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa on Tuesday. Tip time is slated for 6pm.
