Butler women suffer their first loss

Butler's game against Cowley College on Nov. 17 was the second time that the two teams had met this season. In the first game at the Power Plant on Nov. 3 the Grizzlies handed the Tigers their first and only loss of the season so far. This time around it was Grizzlies who suffered their first loss, 67-59.

In the first half both teams had their struggles on the offensive end of the floor.  Over the first 10 minutes of the game the two teams combined for 15 points.  In the final 10 minutes of the half the shooting troubles continued and at the break the Grizzlies trailed 23-20.

The second half numbers were considerably higher for both teams. The Grizzlies put in 39 points in the half but the Tigers added 44 points of their own in the session.

The Butler women shot 35 percent from the floor, while Cowley shot 36 percent. Butler was also outrebounded in the contest by 13.

Leading the way for the Grizzlies was Ashlee Ivy, who had 17 points in the game and went six of nine from the free-throw line.  Samantha Satterlee also poured in 15 points of her own in the game.

The loss moves the Grizzlies 6-1 on the season.
