Grizzlies earn 69-64 win at No. 19 Redlands

The Butler womens basketball team closed out their non-conference schedule with a 69-64 road victory at No. 19 Redlands (Okla.) on Saturday afternoon. The win moves the Grizzlies to 12-2 heading into conference play.

Butler was paced by sophomore Jamillah Bonner's fifth double-double of the season, as she finished with a game-high 23 points and 12 rebounds. Samantha Satterlee added 10 points, while freshman Ashlee Ivy had nine points and 11 rebounds.

The Grizzlies led throughout the first half, taking a 25-15 lead on a Bonner 3-pointer with under seven minutes remaining before the break. However, Redlands rallied with an 11-0 run to take a 31-27 lead at intermission.

The second half featured three ties and five lead changes before a Butler 12-1 run all but sealed the game for the Grizzlies. Trailing 49-48 with under nine minutes to play, Bonner would hit a jumper to start the run. Chelsea Hodison and Ashlee Ivy would add field goals during the run. Bonner, who scored 15 points in the second half, would hit 1-of-2 foul shots to give the Grizzlies a 60-50 lead with 5:42 left.

Redlands would close within four, 62-58. with 2:01 to play, but Bonner would score six straight points - two field goals and two foul shots - to secure the win.

The Butler women will take a five-game winning streak into conference play when they travel to Garden City to face the Broncbusters on Jan. 5. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
