Satterlee leads Butler women to 20th win on the season

The Butler women earned their 20th win of the season in dominating fashion with a 60-32 road win at Colby on Wednesday. The win matches a season-best under head coach Mike Helmer, who guided the Grizzlies to a 20-12 mark two seasons ago.

Grizzly sophomore Samantha Satterlee scored a career-high 22 points, while Jamillah Bonner had 12. Tysia Manual added eight points as all Grizzly players in uniform recorded a point in the win.

Butler is now 20-6 on the season and 8-4 in Jayhawk West action. The Grizzlies are one game behind Seward County and Cloud County, who are both tied for third place.

The Grizzlies used a strong first-half shooting performance to build a 32-23 halftime lead. Tied 14-14 with 12:50 remaining in the half, the Grizzlies went on a 17-0 run. Ashlee Ivy, Samantha Satterlee and Tysia Manual each had two field goals, while Colby went 7:40 without a point.

Butler limited Colby to just nine points in the second half, as the Grizzlies kept the Trojans off the board for the first 7:48 of the second half. Manual and Satterlee keyed a 13-0 run for Butler to start the half. Satterlee scored seven points during the run, while Manual added five.

Later in the half, Satterlee would score three consecutive baskets to push the lead to 54-29 at the 6:22 mark. Colby managed just one field goal over the final 8:30 of the contest.

Butler's next game will be Saturday against Pratt (15-11 overall, 4-8 Jayhawk West) at the Power Plant. The Grizzlies defeated the Beavers 78-57 back on Jan. 19 earlier this year and have won nine straight games against Pratt.
