Butler splits pair of weekend games in Oklahoma

The Butler women's basketball team split a pair of games this weekend in Oklahoma, suffering their first loss of the season, but bouncing back to get a lopsided win the next day.

On Friday, the Grizzlies suffered a controversial 63-62 loss at Murray State. The Grizzlies led by double digits in the second half before Murray State started to come back. At one point in the second half, there was controversy at the scorers table and two points were taken off the scoreboard for Butler.

Butler outrebounded Murray State and had fewer turnovers, but went 0-7 from 3-point range in the loss on Friday.  Butler made just 28 of 44 free throws attempts in the game for 64 percent from the stripe.

Te'era Williams led all scorers and had a double-double with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Ashley Gibson and Teanna Reid added 11 points each for Butler in the contest and Ashlee Ivy contributed seven rebounds and three steals.

On Saturday, Butler rolled over Seminole State, building a 13-point halftime lead and cruising through the second half in a 71-53 victory.

Ashley Gibson and Teanna Reid led in scoring with 13 points apiece while Te'era Williams scored 12. Ashlee Ivy had seven points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Butler was much better at the free throw line in this contest, making 13 of 14 attempts for 93 percent.
