Butler extends winning streak to 15 with road win over Pratt

PRATT, Kan. - The Butler women recovered from a rare first-half slow start to extend their winning streak to 15 games with an 85-76 road win at Pratt on Wednesday night.

Ashley Gibson led the Grizzlies (17-1 overall) with 22 points, while Te'era Williams added 16. Shayla Williams and Ashlee Ivy also scored in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Pratt led throughout most of the first half, taking a 36-33 lead at the break. The Beavers managed to increase the lead to seven early in the second half before Butler made its run.

Kynadi Johnson's field goal with 13:49 remaining capped a 14-3 Grizzly run and gave Butler a 46-44 lead.

After Johnson's basket, the Grizzlies never trailed again. Butler added a 12-2 run midway through the half, with Ashley Gibson's three-point play with 8:11 left putting the Grizzlies up 64-51.

Butler led by as many as 16 points in the final minutes before Pratt rallied to cut the deficit under double digits before the final buzzer.

Pratt (13-3) was led by Tatiana Grant, who finished with 22 points, 15 rebounds and five steals. Maddie Pendry matched Grant with 22 points in the loss.

Butler opens conference play next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. with a home contest against Cowley (11-4).
