Butler women ranked No. 9 in latest NJCAA poll

The Butler women's basketball team moved back into the top 10 in the latest NJCAA Division I Coaches' Poll released on Jan. 22.

The Grizzlies are won of four Jayhawk Conference teams in the poll, with Hutchinson at No. 3 and Seward at No. 10 representing the Jayhawk West and Butler and No. 21 Cowley representing the Jayhawk East.

The Grizzlies (19-1, 2-0) moved up five spots in the poll after blasting then No. 19 Cowley 82-58 at home and throttling unranked Coffeyville 84-49 on the road last week, an average winning margin of 29.5 points per game.

Butler has won 17 games in a row, just three shy of the program's best winning streak (20 straight wins in 2002). The Grizzlies have a chance to win their 20th game of the season tonight when they host Allen County at 5:30 p.m. That is followed by another home game on Saturday, Jan. 25 against Labette with tipoff at 2 p.m. for that contest.
