The Butler women's basketball team moved up to sixth in the latest NJCAA Division I Coaches' Poll released on Feb. 12.
The #6 ranking is the highest the Grizzlies have received since the 2001-2002 season, when Butler opened the season with 20 consecutive victories. For four consecutive weeks (Jan. 9 to Jan. 29, 2002) Butler was ranked fourth in the nation.
Butler (25-1 overall, 8-0 Jayhawk East) has won 23 consecutive games, breaking the program's school record of 20 from the 2002 season. The Grizzlies moved up one spot in the poll after winning Saturday at Allen County 69-43 and defeating Coffeyville 94-49 at home Monday.
The Grizzlies are one of four KJCCC teams featured in this week's poll. Jayhawk West teams Hutchinson (22-0) and Seward County (22-3) are ranked third and 10th, respectively. Cowley (18-6) moved down four spots to 23rd.
Butler travels to Arkansas City to face Cowley at 5:30 p.m on Wednesday. The Grizzlies can clinch a share of the Jayhawk East title with a win. On Saturday, Butler will host Independence in the home regular-season finale at 5:30 p.m.
