Bonner’s success continues at Wichita State

Jamillah Bonner has completed her collegiate basketball playing career and what a career it was. Bonner was a two year starter for the Grizzlies and finished her career as arguably the greatest Grizzlies in the history of the program. Her career at Wichita State was just as impressive winning back to back conference championships and playing in two consecutive NCAA tournaments.

Bonner was a two time first team all-Missouri Valley Conference member which was highlighted by being named the 2014-2015 MVC Defense Player of the Year for the Shockers. The Wichita native was one of the key pieces for the Valley's best defensive team, ranking eighth in the league in steals, recording 1.9 per contest, including 12 games with two or more steals. In her senior season alone, Bonner aided the Shockers in setting new program records defensively that included holding Winthrop to just 20 points for an entire game. Wichita State ranked fourth in the entire country in defensive points allowed per contest (50.9).

While at Butler, Bonner finished her career as a two time All-Jayhawk West and All-Region VI performer and was the first player in program history to play in the NJCAA All Star game held in Niceville, Florida. Bonner's mark was left in the record books as well as she is the all-time scoring leader (1086) and also in steals (215), while finishing second in rebound for a career (525).

Bonner recently signed a pro contract to continue her playing career internationally in Mexico. This is the first such player to sign a professional contract during the Mike Helmer era at Butler.
