Butler women beat Clarendon in McDonalds Classic

The Butler women improved to 8-1 on the season with another home victory over Clarendon College (TX) 92-62 at the McDonald's Classic on Friday.

Butler came out swinging and quickly jumped out to the early 20-8 at the end of the first quarter. The Grizzlies would lead by as many as 16 in the first half before ending the first half with a 43-32 lead.

A dominating third quarter saw Butler off and running courtesy in large part to a 17-2 run to open the half. The Grizzlies outscored the Bulldogs 27-6 in the third quarter and held the visitors without a made field goal until the 1:50 mark of the period - the only one allowed in the entire third quarter.

Butler had five players in double figures. Leading the way for the Grizzlies was freshman Kyeria Hannah who finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Fellow freshman Imari Bell had a career high of 12 points and sophomore Janee Arnold finished the contest with 10 rebounds.

Saturday marks the second day of the McDonalds Basketball Classic in the Power Plant as the Grizzlies take on the Labette Cardinals (2-7 overall) at 5:30 p.m. in the Power Plant.
