Butler women rout Allen County 75-45 on road

IOLA, Kan. - The Butler women cruised to a 75-45 road victory over Allen County on Wednesday in Jayhawk Conference action.

Sophomore Tamara Lee led the Grizzlies (21-7 overall, 11-6 conference) with 16 points, while Nia Roberts added 12 in the win. Kyeria Hannah also had a strong performance with eight points and five rebounds for Butler, winners in eight of their last nine games.

Leading 28-23 with 4:58 remaining in the second quarter, Butler began to pull away from the Red Devils. The Grizzlies used an 18-0 run which overlapped into the third quarter to take a 46-23 lead. Nia Roberts had seven points during the run, including a three-pointer from the left side.

Butler continued to maintain the lead throughout the remainder of the second half, never letting Allen (8-20, 3-14) get under 19 points.

The Grizzlies held Allen without a field goal for a stretch of 8:40 in the fourth quarter while building the lead up to 34 points.

Butler used a strong transition game, as the Grizzlies totaled 24 points off of 26 Allen turnovers. The Grizzlies shot nearly 52 percent (28-of-54) from the field, while limiting the Red Devils to just 28 percent (15-of-53).

Allen's Haley Wilson led all scorers with 22 points, hitting 6-of-13 from beyond the arc.

Butler finishes out the road portion of the conference schedule this Saturday at Pratt. Tipoff from the Beaver Dome is at 2:00 p.m. The Grizzlies will then return home to host Cowley in the regular season finale on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
