Defense helps Butler women in 82-36 win over Bethel JV

TOWANDA, Kan. - A strong defensive first half helped the Butler women in their 82-36 win over Bethel College JV on Friday at Circle High School.

Butler limited Bethel to just nine first-half points and only one field goal as the Grizzlies built a 43-9 lead.

Dakota Vann led all scorers with 19 points, hitting 8-of-12 from the field. Raven Prince added 16 points, while Kendriana Washington and Nakylia Carter scored 12 points each.

Vann scored 14 of her 19 in the opening half for the Grizzlies, who hit 46 percent (31-of-67) from the field and held Bethel to just 20 percent shooting (10-of-48).

Butler led 26-4 after one quarter of play, then extended the lead to 34 points after holding Bethel to five points in the second quarter.

The Grizzlies will next be in action on Tuesday against Tabor College JV. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m. from the Circle High School gymnasium in Towanda.
