Butler women wrap up non-conference with win over Tabor JV

TOWANDA, Kan. - The Butler women wrapped up the non-conference portion of their schedule with an 89-40 win over Tabor College JV on Tuesday at the Circle High School gymnasium.

Butler (3-0 overall) opened the contest with a 10-0 run and built a 50-13 halftime lead.

Grizzly sophomore Dakota Vann led all scorers with 21 points, 12 rebounds and six steals. Alecia Gulledge and Kyeria Hannah each added 16 points, while Raven Prince scored 11 in the victory.

Prince was the key scorer during the Grizzlies' opening 10-0 run, scoring three field goals.

Gulledge added a three-pointer at the end of the first quarter, which started a 20-0 run for Butler. Gulledge hit a pair of treys and added a field goal to help the Grizzlies take a 47-9 lead with 4:05 remaining in the first half.

Butler limited Tabor to just 25 percent (13-of-52) from the field and hit 52 percent (35-of-67). The Grizzlies scored 58 points in the paint and outrebounded the Bluejays by a 48-21 margin.

The Grizzlies will open Jayhawk Conference play on Saturday with a road game at Garden City. Tipoff is at 6:00 p.m. Butler will then host its first game in the Power Plant on Wednesday, Nov. 16 against Seward County.
