Butler women rout Pratt 76-28, allows season-low in points

Behind a strong defensive effort, the Butler women allowed a season-low 28 points Wednesday night in a 76-28 home rout of Pratt.

Butler (10-3 overall, 7-3 conference) limited Pratt's offense to just 17 percent (10 of 58) from the field, which was also a season-low made against the Grizzlies.

Dakota Vann led the Grizzlies with 16 points, while Imari Bell (12 points, six rebounds) and Alecia Gulledge (11 points) both came off the bench to score in double figures. Kendriana Washington added nine points in the win.

The Grizzlies never trailed in the contest as Vann helped the hosts jump out to an 11-3 lead midway through the first quarter. Vann scored seven points during the opening run, including a three-pointer to open the game.

Butler nearly ended the first half with a 17-0 run to build a 30-point lead (40-10), but a Pratt field goal just before the break ended the Grizzlies' run.

In the third quarter, Pratt was held to just one field goal and made just 1 of 16 (6 percent), while Butler increased its lead to 55-17 heading into the final quarter.

The Grizzlies, who led by as many as 50 midway through the final quarter, scored 34 points off of Pratt's turnovers and received 37 points from the bench. Butler outrebounded Pratt by a 46-32 margin.

Butler will next be in action this Saturday at Coffeyville in a 5:00 p.m. contest.
