Butler women fall 54-46 on the road at Coffeyville

COFFEYVILLE, Kan. - The Butler women couldn't overcome the loss of three key contributors in a 54-46 road loss to Coffeyville on Saturday at Nellis Hall.

Missing two starters and the top player off the bench, Butler fell behind 21-9 in the early going. The Grizzlies rallied behind Kendriana Washington in the second quarter. Her third three-pointer of the game got Butler within four at 26-22 and the Grizzlies then managed to tie the game 26-26 at the break.

Butler then scored the first four points of the second half and had its biggest lead of the game at 30-26. The Grizzlies then went cold, and Coffeyville went on a 7-0 run to take a 33-30 lead with 5:48 to go in the third quarter.

Coffeyville would get two key buckets late in the third quarter, including a buzzer-beating three-pointer, and led Butler 45-36 going to the fourth.

Butler would force seven straight Coffeyville turnovers to start the final quarter, and got within four points, but could get no closer than that.

Kyeria Hannah led Butler with 16 points, while Washington scored 14. They were the only Grizzlies in double figures. Raven Prince led Butler with eight rebounds.

Butler is now 10-4 overall, 7-4 in Jayhawk Conference play. The Grizzlies return home to face Neosho County on Wednesday.
