Butler women roll past Colby to finish third in KJCCC

The Butler women rolled through the end of the regular season on Monday, defeating Colby 83-37 at the Power Plant.

Butler finishes the regular season at 23-6, winning 11 of its final 12 games. With the win, and Coffeyville's loss to Cowley, the Grizzlies secure the third spot in the final Jayhawk Conference standings with a 20-6 league record and will be the third seed in the upcoming Region VI Tournament.

Butler will have a first-round home game, facing 14th-seeded Dodge City (4-26). That game will tip at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 2 at the Power Plant.

Butler never trailed against Colby on Monday, soring the first four points of the contest. Colby would score twice to cut Butler's lead to 8-5 with 5:53 left in the first quarter, but would not score again in the period. Butler would go on a 14-0 run and lead 22-5 going to the second quarter.

Butler pushed the lead past 30 in the second quarter on a 3-pointer by Dakota Vann with 4:09 to make it a 39-8 Butler lead and Butler was up 44-13 at halftime.

The lead reached 40 points when HaLee Roland sunk a 3-pointer with 9:14 left in the game, making the score 64-24. Butler's biggest lead in the game was 48 points.

Kendriana Washington led Butler with 18 points while Raven Prince had 17 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double. Dakota Vann, Kyeria Hannah and HaLee Roland scored nine points apiece.
