Butler sophomore Ericka Mattingly was named to the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball All-American team on Wednesday, becoming the third Grizzly in the program's history to earn the honor. 

"I'm so proud of her,"  head coach Mike Helmer said. "She really deserves this. It was an honor to coach her and she was an awesome teammate."

Mattingly, who earned third-team honors, averaged 14.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game for the Grizzlies. She also averaged 3.7 assists and 3.8 steals per game.

Mattingly, a Wichita native who transferred to Butler after playing her freshman season at Texas-Arlington, played in all 31 games for Butler this season. She recorded five double-doubles. She scored a season-high 22 points in a 75-54 win at Dodge City on Dec. 2.

"A lot of players overlook the junior college experience, but my time at Butler has made me a better player and a better person," Mattingly said. "This staff and my teammates are amazing and I wouldn't have wanted to play with anyone else. I love Butler and everyone here is so close. I've enjoyed every second of it and hate that I only got one year."

Mattingly helped Butler to a 21-10 record – the eighth straight season in which Butler has won 20 or more games.

She was a first-team All-Jayhawk Conference and All-Region VI selection and was also named to the all-tournament team after recording two double-doubles in the Region VI Tournament to end the season.

Mattingly joins Ashley Gibson (2015) and Te'era Williams (2014) as the only All-Americans in Butler women's basketball history.
