Grizzlies pulverize Colby Trojans behind big offensive explosion

Story by Wyatt Ebersole

The Butler Women came out on fire against Colby on Tuesday night and never looked back en route to a 40-point victory over the Trojans. The #23 ranked Grizzlies are now 16-3 overall and are 11-3 in Jayhawk Conference in action. The Grizzlies remain right in the thick of the conference race and are still just one game out of first place. The season struggles continue for the Colby Trojans this year as they are now 1-17 and an abysmal 0-13 in conference play.

The Grizzlies got out to their best offensive and defensive start to the season as they were up 16-0 on the Trojans just five minutes into the game. The Grizzlies continued to build their lead and after the first 10 minutes, the game seemed to already be over as the Grizzlies were up 28-7. The Grizzlies nearly led by 30 points less than 15 minutes into the contest, but Colby would manage to wear down their deficit to a more respectable 19 points at 39-20 with 4:10 left in the half. That was as close as the Trojans would make it the rest of the game as the Grizzlies quickly grew their lead back and led by 25 at halftime.

The Grizzlies continued to soar away from the Trojans in the second half and went up by 30 points for the first time in the game shortly after halftime and the Grizzlies led by 36 after three quarters at 68-32. The Grizzlies kept on dominating the game and never led by less than 32 the rest of the way.

Coach Helmer's crew dominated wire-to-wire in this game and came away with a 91-50 victory.
The turnaround for the Grizzlies will be quick as they will stay the night in Western Kansas and will play Northwest Tech tomorrow night at 6:30PM central time.
