Butler improves to 3-0-0 on the season

The Lady Grizzlies improved to 3-0-0 on the season with a win Wednesday night verses NOC-Tonkawa. An explosion of offense gave Butler 6-0 win headed into a challenging Dallas road trip. The Grizzlies will look to build off of Wednesdays win this weekend against defending Div. III National Champions Richland College and Div. I #2 ranked Tyler Junior College.

The Grizzlies went ahead early, with a bomb from Megan Snyder (Overland Park, KS) in the first five minutes of the game. Snyder took a pass from center back Mandi Roan (Dallas TX) and dropped it over the keepers head from 30 yards out. The scoring threats did not diminish as the Grizzlies fired 19 shots in the first half. Goalkeeper turned forward, Aisling Dyer (Ireland), netted two goals at the end of the half to put the Grizzlies up 3-0 at half time. Dyer's finishes came off balls from fellow freshman Alyssa Miller (Thornton, CO) and Abby Ponce (Oxnard, CA) in the last five minutes of the half.

Butler came out in the second half ready to put the game away. Carla Daniels (Jamaica) netted the first goal of the half less than three minutes in off a ball from Snyder. Natausha Sanchez (Dodge City, KS) was the next Grizzly to get on the board off a ball from Sophomore Perla Hernandez (Great Bend, KS). The 6th and final goal of the game came with 20 minutes left in the run of play. Roan tallied her second assist of the game when she played a ball into Miller. Miller laced an upper 90 shot from the top of the 18 yard box. Her goal was the last in an offensive game which totaled 34 shots (15 on goal) and 6 goals.

Although not significantly challenged in the back, Butler's defense posted their 3rd shut out of the season. Sophomore goalkeeper Mel Nuessen (Emporia, KS) took the start and had a clean sheet for 90 minutes bringing scoreless minutes to 270. Nuessen made 2 saves on the game while NOC's goalkeeper blocked 15 Butler shots.

The Grizzlies head to Dallas Friday morning for their last out of region games of the regular season. They will take on Richland College at 8:00 PM Friday September 2nd and Tyler Junior College at 11:00 AM Sunday September 4th. Both games will be played at Richland College.
