Freshman forward Carla Daniels has departed for Kingston, Jamaica ahead of her Jamaican U-20 National Team's trip to Panama City, Panama for the CONCACAF U-20 Women's Championships March 1-11.  Daniels has been selected to the Jamaican roster for the U-20 World Cup Qualifying Tournament.  The team will hold their pre-tournament camp in Kingston before heading to Panama at the end of the month.

The CONCACAF U-20 Women's Championship is staged every two years with three teams qualifying for the biennial World Cup.  This year's World Cup will be played later this year in Japan.  CONCACAF's championship is an eight-team event with the three nations from North America, joined by three from the Caribbean and two from Central America.  The three nations representing North America are Canada, Mexico, and the United States.  The two Central American countries are Guatemala and host nation Panama.  The three Caribbean nations are Guyana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Prior to qualifying for the Championships, the Jamaicans had to first finish in the top three from the Caribbean Nations.  Daniels participated in the second round of the Caribbean Qualifiers over Christmas break.  The Jamaicans took second in the region after falling to Haiti 0-1 and then defeating the Cayman Islands 2-0 and Dominican Republic 4-0.  Daniels started all three matches, playing the full 90 minutes against Haiti and Dominican Republic.

"I can't say enough how proud we are for Carla to be representing her country.  Qualifying for a World Cup is always something that Carla has dreamed about and now she has another chance to chase her dream.  I know that she is willing and ready to play her best football and we are just elated to have her playing on the world stage while also being a Butler Grizzly," explained Coach Hunter.
