The Butler soccer team was forced into overtime on a rainy night in Chanute before defeating Neosho County by a 2-1 score.
Morgan Foster scored the game-winning goal in the overtime period with an assist by Abby Ponce in the 96th minute.
Butler scored first on a goal by Lamya Scott late in the first half with an assist by Abby Ponce. The Grizzlies looked to win the game in regulation, but Neosho was able to punch in a goal in the 88th minute on a long goal by Enyi Rosa.
Butler took five shots during the first half, two during the second, and one during overtime with a total of eight. Neosho had a total of five shots and one corner kick.
Butler is now 6-2 on the season and 3-2 in Jayhawk Conference play. The Grizzlies will return home for a primetime game under the lights on Sunday against Pratt at the BG Products Veterans Sports Complex, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
