Butler shuts out nationally-ranked opponent on the road

TONKAWA, Okla. - The Butler soccer team won its seventh consecutive game, including a third straight shutout, in a 6-0 win at No. 12-ranked Northern Oklahoma on Sunday.

The game was a matchup of teams that both qualified for the NJCAA Division I national tournament in Florida a year ago. This year, Butler came into the match ranked No. 2 in the NSCAA poll and No. 6 in the NJCAA poll.

Morgan Foster scored the first goal of the game and was assisted by Simone Arthur. Megan Snyder scored unassisted, followed by Aisling Dyer on a penalty kick. The Grizzlies end the first half leading 3-0.

Hannah Palomo scored two goals in the beginning of the second half. Casie Greenlee assisted the first goal and the second goal was assisted by Darcy Nightingale and Alyssia Salinas. Alyssa Miller was assisted by Hana Harrison for the final goal against the Mavericks.

Butler took a total of 23 shots during the game against Northern Oklahoma's 12 shots. The Grizzlies also took 11 corner kicks and had seven saves.

With an overall record of 10-2 and a conference record of 6-0, next the Grizzlies will play at Johnson County on Friday, Sept. 28 at 3 p.m. in another showdown of nationally-ranked teams.
