Butler beats Barton 4-1 for 10th conference victory

The Butler soccer team reached double digits in conference wins with a 4-1 home win over Barton County on Sunday at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.

Butler fell behind early on when Molly Hausmann took advantage of a defensive miscue by the Grizzlies and punched a goal past keeper Aisling Dyer.

The Grizzlies needed less than four minutes, however, to answer that score as Alyssa Miller scored on an assist by Hannah Palomo in the 12th minute.

The winning goal came in the 35th minute when Simone Foster took a corner kick, bending the ball directly into the goal. Butler would score once more before the end of the half when Lamya Scott assisted on a goal by Abby Ponce in the 43rd minute, making it a 3-1 Butler lead at intermission.

Ponce would add another goal in the second half, this time with an assist from Megan Snyder, for the final margin.

Butler keeper Aisling Dyer allowed a goal for the first time in three games, as she made 11 saves. The Grizzlies also had six corner kicks and took 25 shots.

Butler is now 15-2 on the season with a 10-0 record in conference play. The Butler soccer team will play against Coffeyville at the Butler Soccer field on Friday at 3 pm.
