Defensive POY Offerman leads Grizzlies in all-conference selections

The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference recently released its 2012 all-conference soccer teams and several Grizzlies were honored.

Leading the way was conference defensive player of the year Teresa Offerman. She led a Grizzly defense that allowed only 16 goals so far this season.

Offerman was also one of four Grizzlies selected to the all-conference first team. Joining her are forward Alyssa Miller, midfielder Mari Ruvalcaba and midfielder Lamya Scott.

Miller leads Butler with 25 goals. She has scored three goals three times during the season and also added four goal game against Independence on Oct. 17. Ruvalcaba is tied for second on the team with her 12 assists and also put in eight goals, while Scott has six goals and five assists.

The Grizzlies had three women land on the second team. They include midfielder Megan Snyder, defender JeeHye Yi and goalkeeper Aisling Dyer.

Snyder has knocked in six goals this season but her 13 assists lead the team. Yi joins Offerman as part of the tough Grizzly defense and Dyer has started in all but one game in goal.

Midfielder Morgan Foster was the only Grizzly to be named to the honorable mention list. She is second on the team with five goals and had eight assists.

The Grizzlies season will continue next week when they travel to Melbourne, Fla. for the NJCAA DI Women's Soccer National Championship.
