The Butler women's soccer team suffered its first defeat at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex on Sunday, falling to No. 7 Laramie County (Wyo.) 3-1.

Laramie jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead, scoring both goals into a 10-to-15 mph coming from the south. Taylor Hockley netted the first goal in the 34th minute, then Sayit Mejia Bello put the Golden Eagles up with an unassisted goal shortly thereafter.

Butler was able to cut the deficit in half when Madison Decker scored in the 58th minute, but Laramie put the contest out of reach in the 72nd minute when Sierra Kuno put in a loose ball in front of the goal.

With the loss, Butler falls to 1-1 on the season. The Grizzlies, ranked No. 5 in the NJCAA poll, will host Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa on Friday at 2 p.m. Butler will also host KCK in a 4 p.m. contest Sunday.
