Butler soccer moves down to eighth in NJCAA poll

With a 3-1 loss to No. 4-ranked Tyler on Friday, the Butler women's soccer team was dropped from fifth to eighth in in the NJCAA Top 20 national poll, which was released Wednesday.

Butler (7-2-0 overall, 2-0-0 conference) received 61 votes in this week's poll and is now 1-2 against current ranked opponents. The Grizzlies defeated current #2 Laramie County (WY) in the season opener, but have losses to No. 3 Iowa Western and Tyler, who moved down from fourth to sixth in the poll.

Prior to Tyler, the Grizzlies defeated Pratt 11-0 on Wednesday, as sophomore midfielder Morgan Foster scored four goals in the contest. The loss to Tyler snapped a six-game winning streak for the Grizzlies.

For the third straight week, Paradise Valley (AZ) was the unanimous No. 1 pick, receiving 100 votes and all five first-place votes. Laramie County, Iowa Western, Navarro (Texas) and Monroe Community (N.Y.) round out the top five.

Other KJCCC schools featured in the national poll are Barton (6-2-0, 16th), Coffeyville (6-2-0, 19th) and Johnson County (7-1-0, 20th).

Butler will host a pair of conference games this weekend, as the Grizzlies will play Garden City at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, then take on Johnson County on Sunday at 7 p.m.
