Two Grizzlies sign with NCAA institutions

Morgan Foster and Darci Nightingale have signed national letters of intent to continue their college soccer careers at NCAA institutions.  Foster (Idaho Falls, ID) has signed with Drake University (NCAA D1) while Nightingale (Katy, TX) has signed with Newman University (NCAA D2).  During Foster and Nightingale's days as a Butler Grizzly the program experienced it greatest ever successes on the field and in the classroom.  The team appeared in two NJCAA National Tournaments where the finished 5th and 3rd respectively, appearing in the 2013 Final Four.  The Grizzlies also won two conference championships by going an undefeated 26-0 in conference play over the past two years.  In the classroom the Grizzlies were named the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year by leading the country with a 3.47 GPA.  Just how extensive has Foster and Nightingale's contributions to these successes been?  They share the school record for most games played as a Grizzly at 51.

In 2013 Foster was only the second ever Grizzly to lead the country in goals scored in a season with 43.  Ashley Tatum first accomplished the feat in 2004 with 40 goals.  Foster also led the NJCAA in 2014 with 102 points by scoring the 43 goals and adding 16 assists.  Foster finishes her career in the top five of most offensive categories in Butler's history;  goals, assists, and points.  She has been named to the KJCCC All-Conference team as a freshman and sophomore.  Foster was also honored as an NSCAA and NJCAA all-region selection as a sophomore.  Her biggest post-season accolade came when she was named an NSCAA and NJCAA First-Team All-American after her sophomore season.  Foster follows in the footsteps of Butler's Cindy Benitez by being the only Grizzlies to be named First-Team All-American by both soccer organizations.  Morgan also understands the importance academic responsibility.  She is a two-time KJCCC Academic All-Conference member.

Darci Nightingale was the Grizzlies' 2013 team captain and starting center-back that helped record 13 shutouts on the way to winning a second consecutive conference championship while going undefeated in conference play.  Nightingale was named to the KJCCC All-Conference team as a sophomore.  She was also very instrumental in helping the Grizzlies reach the NJCAA Final Four in 2013 and was the Grizzlies third ever player to be named to the NJCAA All-Tournament Team.  Nightingale has been the epitome of respect, honor, and fair play.  As a result of her efforts she assisted the Grizzlies in being named the Lea Plarski Sportsmanship recipients at the 2012 NJCAA National Tournament.

"We are always very proud of each and every one of our players who continues her dreams and pursuit of her goals.  We are elated when these plans include a continued career in college soccer.  We feel honored to have played a part in helping Morgan and Darci continue their college soccer careers at the NCAA level.  We want to thank them for their loyalty and diligence while wearing the Purple and Gold.  We also want to wish them the best for continued success."
