Butler shuts out Pratt to remain unbeaten in conference play

The Butler soccer team blanked visiting Pratt by a 3-0 score on Thursday afternoon at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex, remaining undefeated in Jayhawk Conference play.

The Grizzlies got one goal in the first period, that coming on a set piece after a Pratt foul. MariCarmen Rios Jean served the ball into the six-yard box. The Pratt keeper tried to get her hand on the ball, but a Pratt defender had the ball slide off of her foot right to Kiliegh Van, who slotted the ball into the net.

Butler held that 1-0 lead at halftime, then scored two goals in the second half. Brittany Lawrence served a ball across the net that a Pratt player tried to clear, but instead the ball went into the net for an own goal.

Later in the contest, Emma Samenus served a ball into the box that Lawrence shot into the net for Butler's third goal.

The Grizzlies are now 7-3-3 overall and are 4-0-1 in Jayhawk Conference play. Butler's next action is on the road on Friday, Oct. 10 at Kansas City Kansas Community College at 6 p.m.
