Butler soccer stays at 15th in NJCAA D-I rankings

For the second consecutive week, Butler soccer remained ranked at No. 15 in the NJCAA Top 20 Division I poll.

The Grizzlies (7-3-3 overall, 4-0-1 KJCCC) won their only game of the week - a 3-0 home win on Thursday against Pratt. Since opening the season with three straight losses to ranked competition, Butler has gone 7-0-3 over its last ten contests.

Iowa Western (10-0-1) took over the top spot in the polls, while the previous No. 1 - Darton State, Ga. - lost two consecutive games and plummeted to 12th this week. Iowa Western received 99 votes and four of the five first-place votes, while Tyler, Texas received the other first-place votes and was ranked second. Monroe, N.Y., Eastern Florida State and Otero, Colo., rounded out the top five in the poll.

Hutchinson (8-1-1) was the only other KJCCC team to be ranked this week, as the Blue Dragons held steady at No. 17. Allen County (9-1-2), who tied Butler 0-0 back on Sept. 26 and was ranked 19th last week, dropped out of the poll after losing a 3-2 contest at Richland, Texas.

Butler travels to face Kansas City Kansas on Friday for a 6 p.m. contest. KCK (1-8-0 overall, 1-5-0 KJCCC) is coming off a 4-1 loss at Allen County on Tuesday. The Grizzlies will return home to play Barton (6-5-2 overall, 3-3-1 KJCCC) on Sunday at 1 p.m. at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex. Barton defeated Cowley 8-0 in conference play on Tuesday.
