Soccer falls four spots to 19th in NJCAA poll

After a 2-1 overtime loss at home to No. 16 Hutchinson, Butler soccer fell four spots to 19th in this week's NJCAA Division I women's soccer poll.

The Grizzlies (9-4-3 overall, 6-1-1 KJCCC) lost for the first time in 12 games, as they went 9-0-3 during that stretch. Butler defeated the University of Kansas Club team 2-1 in exhibition play on Sunday.

Iowa Western (13-0-1) remained ranked No. 1 for the third straight week and received all five first-place votes, while Tyler, Texas stayed at No. 2 with 94 votes. Monroe, N.Y. stayed at No. 3, while Eastern Florida, Otero, Colo., and Monroe Community, N.Y., were locked in a three-way tie at No. 4.

Along with Butler, Hutchinson and Johnson County were the only other KJCCC teams ranked. The Blue Dragons (11-1-1) moved up three spots to 13th after beating Butler. Johnson County moved into the polls this week at 18th.

Butler travels to face No. 18 Johnson County (14-4-0 overall, 9-1-0 conference) in a contest that could determine the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Region VI playoffs. The Grizzlies will return home for a Sunday 1 p.m. contest against Coffeyville (9-5-1 overall, 5-4-1 conference).
