Butler seeded eighth in national soccer tournament

Seedings and pairings for the NJCAA Division I Women's National Soccer Tournament in Melbourne, Fla. have been released.

Butler will be the No. 8 seed in the tournament and will face No. 12 seed Waubonsee (14-3-2) at 10 a.m. next Tuesday (9 a.m. Kansas time) and No. 1 seed Iowa Western (18-0-1) at 10 a.m. on Wednesday (9 a.m. Kansas time).

Butler is 3-6-1 all-time against defending national champion Iowa Western, losing 4-1 in the season opener this year. Butler did beat the Reivers 2-1 last year in overtime. The Grizzlies are 1-0 against Waubonsee, beating them 4-0 in the 2011 national tournament.

This is Butler's fourth consecutive trip to nationals, which have been held in Melbourne all four of those years. The Grizzlies are 3-3-2 in the three previous trips to nationals, having reached the final four a year ago where they lost 1-0 to Navarro (Texas) in the national semifinals.
