The Butler women's soccer program has announced eight sophomores have committed to play at four-year institutions. The 2015 class includes five players choosing NCAA schools, with two of them signing with NCAA DI schools.

The seven players are Korrie Raney and Maddie Decker (Newman), Yvette Aguilar, Gabby Ybarra and Paige Thompson (Friends), Paige LaBadie (Cal Poly Pomona), Kileigh Vann (Abilene Christian) and Madison Wedekind (Kansas State).

The 2015 class finished with an overall record of 37-8-5 and a conference record of 22-1-1. In the same span, the class won two Region VI championships, a KJCCC conference championship and two appearances at the NJCAA National Tournament – including a third-place finish in 2013, the best finish in school history.

"We are always very proud of each and every one of our players who continues her dreams and pursuit of her goals," said Butler head coach Adam Hunter. "We are elated when these plans include a continued career in college soccer.  We feel honored to have played a part in helping these girls continue their college soccer careers at the four-year level.  We want to thank them for their loyalty and diligence while wearing the Purple and Gold.  We also want to wish them the best for continued success."

Raney, from Valley Center, played in 47 games and started 38. She scored five goals and had one assist, finishing with 11 points. Raney earned honorable mention All-KJCCC honors and was an Academic All-American her freshman year.

"I am very happy to have Korrie as part of my 2015 recruiting class," said Newman head coach Victor Garcia-Bebek. "I have known Korrie for several years now. I have coached her in her early years as a club soccer player in Wichita. Korrie is a talented player, very technical, with a tactical awareness that any coach will like to have on his/her squad. Her personality will help her to adapt pretty fast and make her a valuable asset to the program."

Decker, from Topeka, played in 49 games and started 31. She finished with 14 goals and 21 assists, totaling 49 points in her Butler career. As a freshman, Decker was named to the first team on both the All-KJCCC and All-Region VI teams while earning Academic All-Conference honors. Decker also earned second-team All-KJCCC and All-Region VI honors her sophomore year.

"Maddie can play either as an attacking midfielder or as a forward. She is a very technical and has great passing skills," said Garcia-Bebek. "Maddie will bring a lot of creativity on the offensive side of the game. I have been following her in the past two years during her time at Butler Community College and looking forward to coach her."

Aguilar, who hails from Wichita, played in 40 games and started 14. She scored 11 goals and added six assists, finishing with 28 points. Aguilar earned Academic All-Conference honors as a freshman.

"Yvette will be a great addition to our offense this next fall," Friends head coach Brent Hobson said. "Since transferring at semester she has already shown us a lot of commitment to prepare for next season. I'm looking forward to watching her compete in the KCAC next year." 

Ybarra, from Wichita, played in 32 games and started five. She scored one goal and was part of a defensive unit that gave up just 48 goals in 50 games.

Thompson, from Wichita, played in 42 games and started 12. She scored two goals and nine assists in her Butler career, finishing with 13 total points.

"I'm very excited to have these two players join our program here at Friends University," said Hobson. "Gabby and Paige will bring some quality experience from their playing time at Butler the last two years.  It will be exciting for both of them to be able to play in Wichita for their last two years of college.  I'm looking forward to seeing them both compete in a Friends University jersey next year."

LaBadie (Thornton, CO) took a medical redshirt her freshman year before appearing in ten games as a sophomore.  As a goalkeeper, she finished witha 4-2-2 record after facing five nationally ranked opponents.

"Although Paige took a medical redshirt her freshman year and split time her sophomore year, we always viewed both of our keepers as #1 caliber keepers.  We are very happy to have helped Paige reach her goal of playing NCAA level soccer in SoCal," stated Butler head coach Adam Hunter.

Vann, from Fort Worth, Texas, played in 49 games and started 47. She finished her Grizzly career with six goals and four assists, a total of 16 points.

"We are excited about Kileigh bringing her two years of playing experience at national JC powerhouse Butler College to ACU," said Abilene Christian head coach Casey Wilson. "Any time we can add a player with valuable experience from a quality program is a huge plus for us."

Wedekind, from Valley Center, played in 50 games and started 47. She scored 29 goals and 17 assists, accumulating 75 points during her Butler career. Wedekind was a two-time All-KJCCC and All-Region VI first-team selection both seasons, as well as being named to the NSCAA All-Region and earning All-American second team honors both years. She earned Academic All-Conference honors her freshman year.

"Madison was a two-time All-American with a tireless work rate from national power Butler Community College," said Kansas State head coach Mike Dibbini. "She brings a great attitude and leadership to the K-State Soccer program."
