Soccer stays at No. 10 for second straight week in NJCAA poll

For the second straight week, Butler soccer remained at 10th in this week's NJCAA Division I women's soccer poll.

The Grizzlies (5-2-0 overall, 1-0-0 KJCCC) rebounded from a pair of losses in Texas to defeat Neosho County 18-0 on Sunday to open conference play. The 18 goals is the third-most goals scored in a game for Butler in the program's history.

The NJCAA top five remained unchanged this week, as Eastern Florida State (3-0-0) stayed in the top spot for the second consecutive week and received all five first-place votes. Darton State (GA), Iowa Central, Tyler (TX) and Parkland (IL) held steady in their spots at 2-3-4-5.

Rounding out the top 10 were Pima (AZ), Monroe CC (NY), Paradise Valley (AZ), Navarro (TX) and Butler.

The Grizzlies are the only ranked KJCCC team in the poll. Johnson County (7-1-0 overall) received 12 votes, just missing out on the top 20. Hutchinson received votes last week, but failed to receive a vote in the new poll.

Butler continues conference play this weekend, beginning with a Friday evening matchup against Dodge City (2-2-0 overall, 0-0-0 conference) at 7 p.m. The Grizzlies then will travel to face Coffeyville (4-4-0, 1-1-0) on Sunday at 2 p.m.
