No. 9 Butler blanks Cowley to remain undefeated in conference

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. - Butler soccer stayed atop the Jayhawk Conference standings with a 3-0 road win at Cowley on Friday.

Freshman midfielder Lexi Clark scored a pair of second-half goals for the Grizzlies (8-2-0 overall, 4-0-0 conference), who have won four straight games.

Amy Strath opened the scoring early for Butler in the third minute when she headed a Sheree Molina corner kick into the net.

The Grizzlies did not score again until the 60th minute, when Clark scored on a penalty kick after Cowley was whistled for a handball in the box.

Clark added her second goal to put Butler up 3-0 just three minutes later, with an assist from Sheree Molina.

Butler's defense limited Cowley (2-5-0 overall, 2-3-0 conference) to just one shot, which was not on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Jami Reichenberger recorded her seventh shutout of the season.

Next up for the Grizzlies will be a conference road contest Sunday at Pratt. Kickoff is at 3 p.m.
