Butler soccer had no difficulty in winning its eighth straight conference match with a 14-0 rout of Garden City on Friday at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.

The eighth-ranked Grizzlies (12-2-overall, 8-0-0 conference) led 4-0 at halftime, then scored 10 goals in the second half to put away the Broncbusters. The 10 goals matched a season-high for most goals scored in a half.

Rosa Urista-Chico scored her third hat trick of the season, while Lauren Allan, Paige Achey and Lexi Clark added two goals each in the win for the Grizzlies, who recorded their fifth straight shutout.

Going against a slight wind in the first half, Achey opened the scoring with a shot from the left side of the net on an assist by Clark in the third minute. Urista-Chico then put Butler up 2-0 with a left-footed shot from about 14 yards out in the 25th minute.

In the 33rd minute, Emily Woods scored on an easy tap-in goal on an assist from Jessica Quezada. Dalia Fernandez finished the first-half scoring by blasting a 26-yard free kick into the top net with less than two minutes before the break.

With a backing wind, Butler broke the contest open, beginning with a chip shot goal by Colleen Howland in the 49th minute. Howland collided with a Busters defender while going for the ball, but was able to get a shot just past Garden keeper Ella Garcia into the net. Six minutes later, Quezada rocketed a shot from 24 yards out to put the Grizzlies up 6-0.

Allan added two consecutive goals, scoring the first off a deflected shot by Quezada in the 57th minute. In the 66th minute, Garden's Garcia failed to play a high ball, which bounced into the box to Allan for the second goal.

After goals by Achey and Clark to give Butler a 10-0 lead, the Grizzlies scored four quick goals in less than a four-minute span. Urista-Chico scored two of the goals, giving her three goals in the contest.

Next up for Butler will be a road conference match on Friday at #19 Hutchinson (8-3 overall, 6-1 conference). The Blue Dragons, predicted by the KJCCC coaches to win the conference, currently sits third in the standings behind Butler and Johnson County. Kickoff from Hutch's Salthawk Sports Complex is at 4 p.m.
