Butler soccer dominate All-Region VI, All-Jayhawk East squads

After winning a fifth straight regional title and a fifth conference title in the past six seasons, it was no surprise to see Butler soccer dominate both the All-Region VI and All-Jayhawk Conference East Division postseason team.

Butler, who finished undefeated at 12-0-0 in conference play, had seven All-Region VI selections - inlcuding five first-teamers. Forwards Colleen Howland and Lauren Allan, midfielders Lexi Clark and Katie Hartman, and goalkeeper Jami Reichenberger were named to the region first-team, while forward Kennedy Weaver and defender Emily Woods both earned second-team honors. Grizzly head coach Adam Hunter was also named Region VI Coach of the Year.

The Grizzlies also had 10 players receive first-team All-Jayhawk Conference East Division honors - with three players each at the forward, midfielder and defender positions. Butler swept the top three individual honors for the East division, as Reichenberger won Defensive Player of the Year and Clark was named Offensive Player of the Year. Hunter also received top honors for Jayhawk East Coach of the Year.

Allan, Howland and Weaver were placed at first-team forward, while Hartman, Holly Stewart and Clark were the midfielders. At defender, Woods, freshman Taylor Martinez and Sam Simmons received first-team honors with Reichenberger being named the top goalkeeper.

The Grizzlies (21-3-0 overall) won its fifth straight Region VI title with a 4-1 win over Johnson County on Nov. 4. Butler also set a school record with 21 straight victories while earning its sixth straight trip to the NJCAA National Tournament in Melbourne, Fla.
