Kreemer hat trick helps No. 12 Butler beat Cowley, 7-1

Butler sophomore forward Ky Kreemer netted a hat trick as the 12th-ranked Grizzlies remained undefeated in Jayhawk Conference play with a 7-1 home rout of Cowley on Friday afternoon.

With the victory, Butler set a new school record for most consecutive regular season conference victories with its 32nd straight win.

Kreemer scored a pair of second-half goals within a minute of each other as Butler (7-3 overall, 5-0 conference) won its fifth straight contest of the season.

With a heavy wind at its back, Cowley scored the opening goalv on a Lauryn Souflard shot just 1:49 into the first half. However, Butler would get the equalizer on a Holly Stewart shot from 15 yards out.

Katie Hartman and Kreemer would each score unassisted goals in the 17th and 34th minute to put Butler up 3-1 at halftime.

Butler had the wind advantage in the final 45 minutes, which led to the Grizzlies outscoring the Tigers by a 4-0 margin. Kaylee Swanson hit a left-footed shot into the right side of the net in the 58th minute, then Hartman added her second goal on an assist from Aylin Torres just 10 minutes later.

Kreemer scored her second goal of the game in the 74th minute, getting an assist from Alexis Palmer. Kreemer's shot from the right side tipped off the hands of Cowley keeper Paulina Dziubek and into the goal. Just 82 seconds later, Kreemer put in a free kick from about 25 yards out for the final goal of the game.

Butler outshot Cowley 27-7 for the game and held an 11-3 shot on goal margin. Grizzly goalkeeper Elena Garcia made two saves while improving her record to 7-3 overall.

The Grizzlies will be on the road for a Jayhawk Conference match on Sunday at Kansas City Kansas. Kickoff is at 12:00 p.m.

NOTES: Butler is now 13-0-0 overall against Cowley and have won all eight matches in El Dorado... Kreemer's hat trick was Butler's second overall on the season. Kennedy Weaver scored four goals in the Grizzlies' season opener at Iowa Western back on Aug. 22
