Six Grizzlies ink with four-year programs

Six current Grizzlies have signed national letters of intent to play collegiate soccer at the four-year level.  The 2018 sophomore class was able to win two KJCCC Conference Championships and advance to the 2016 NJCAA National Tournament in their two seasons at Butler, finishing with a combined record of 36-8-0.

Sam Simmons and Taylor Edson have signed to play at NAIA Bethel College in Newton, KS.  Simmons was two-time KJCCC All-Conference selection, United Soccer Coaches Academic All-American her sophomore year, and the 2017 team captain.  Edson was named KJCCC All-Conference and NJCAA All-Region VI as a sophomore.  Both players earned KJCCC Academic All-Conference and NJCAA Academic All-American at Butler.  Bethel head coach Alex Hagan will be entering his second year as head coach of the program and stated, "I couldn't be more excited to have these two join our program."

Four players will be joining former teammates Colleen Howland and Lexi Clark at NCAA DII Newman University in Wichita, KS.  Katie Hartman, Kennedy Weaver, Elena Garcia, and Kyla Kreemer have all inked with the Jets for the 2018 season.  Hartman and Weaver are two-time KJCCC All-Conference and NJCAA All-Region selections.  Both girls twice earned KJCCC Academic All-Conference while Garcia earned the same honor as a sophomore.  Weaver and Kreemer led the 2017 team in goals with 16 and 10 respectively.  Hartman, Weaver, and Garcia have been named NJCAA Academic All-American while at Butler. Newman just finished their second season under head coach Aaron Avila, which saw the team finish fourth in the Heartland Conference with an overall record of 11-6-2.
