Grizzlies pick up first win of season in 3-0 victory over #13 Rose State College

The Butler soccer team picked up their first win of season with a 3-0 shutout victory over No. 13-ranked Rose State College Sunday afternoon at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.

Butler got on the board early scoring in the sixth minute as Iyanla Bailey Williams scored the first goal of the game and the season with a header into the back of the net off a great cross from Brooklyn Hunter.

Kim McAlpine gave Butler a 2-0 lead scoring a goal in the first minute of the second half, 46th-minute of the contest. McAlpine scored the goal using her head off a great pass from Carsyn Soto.

Natalie Amaya put the game out of reach for Rose State as she scored off a rebound after both Brooklyn Hunter and Joy Ngbuini each had shots on goal and Amaya snuck in and got a foot on the ball burying it in the back of the goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Kyrah Klumpp recorded her first shutout of the season recorded two saves in the contest.

Rose State mustered up only four total shots, two on goal while the Grizzlies finished the game with 17 shots with 10 on goal. 

With the win, Butler now leads the series 6-0 all time over Rose State and have outscored the Raiders 22-1 in those six games.

The Grizzlies will take to the road for the first time this season on Wednesday, August 25 as they travel to Northern Oklahoma College- Tonkawa for a matchup with the Mavericks at 4:00pm.
