Grizzly Soccer rolls Hutch, win 5-0 Saturday night

The No. 12-ranked Butler soccer team rolled to a 5-0 victory Saturday ngith over Hutchison improving to 4-3-1 on the season and now 2-0 in KJCCC play.

The Grizzlies scored three goals in the first half, all three from a different player. Brooklyn Hunter started things off with a rocket from 35-yards out putting Butler up 1-0. Kim McAlpine scored her first of two goals in the 24th minute giving Butler a 2-0 lead. Joy Ngibuini was the other Grizzly to score in the half giving Butler a 3-0 halftime cushion.

Butler didn't stop there as Kim McAlpine and Nayeli Reveles both added a goal in the second half extending the Grizzly lead.

The Grizzlies finished with 16 shots, 10 of which were on goal. Ellie MacDonald, Meghann Wingsutton and Iyanla Bailey Williams each had an assist on the night. 

Hutchinson managed just eight shots on the night, with just two of those on goal. Kyrah Klumpp had two saves in the contest.

Butler leads the all-time series now at 13-9 against the Blue Dragons…Butler has not scored five goals in a games since October 22, 2019 in a 5-0 win over Neosho…The 5-0 win over Hutchinson ties the largest margin of defeat for Hutchinson in their programs history….

NEXT UP: Butler will head to Chanute, KS on Wednesday, September 15 for a 5:00pm matchup with the Panthers. They return home on Saturday, September 18 in a 1:00pm match against Dodge City at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.
