The Butler soccer team stays perfect in conference play after a 4-1 win over Coffeyville Wednesday night under the lights of BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.
Coffeyville scored the first goal given up by the Grizzlies in a conference matchup this season just eight minutes into the match. After that, the script was flipped as Butler found their groove and scored the next four goals unanswered.
Coming off a hat trick in her last game, Kim McAlpine struck first for Butler as she scored in the 16th minute of the match with a header after a great corner kick from Morgan Houston tying the game up at 1-1.
Later in the half, Joy Ngibuini blasted one from 20-yards out that ricochet off the keepers' hands and crossed the goal line giving Butler their first lead of the game. Butler would carry a 2-1 lead into the break.
Ngibuini would strike again, this time early in the second half scoring a goal off the assist from Kim McAlpine giving Butler a more comfortable lead. The game would eventually be put to bed on a Brooklyn Hunter goal off a crispy pass from Kenzee Godwin.
Butler got 22 shots off compared to the Red Ravens seven total. Kyrah Klumpp finished with three saves and one goal allowed. Ashton Conley, who replaced Klumpp late in the match had one really nice save stopping a great scoring opportunity for Coffeyville.
Butler leads the KJCCC now at 5-0, 7-3-1 overall on the year and will host Garden City on Saturday, September 25 at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex. That match is set to kickoff at 4:00pm n El Dorado.
