McAlpine completes the hat trick, Grizzlies defeat Garden 10-1

Butler extended their win streak to six games after a dominating 10-1 win over Garden City Saturday afternoon in El Dorado.

The Broncbusters were clearly out matched as Butler managed to score 10 goals off 37 shots, 25 of which were on goal. Garden City on the other hand mustered up only four total shots in the game, two on goal scoring one.

Kim McAlpine posted her second hat trick (three-goal performance) of the season scoring three straight goals in the second half in a matter of 15 minutes.

Korryn Hackney and Carsyn Soto each added a pair of goals, all four coming in the first half as Butler led 4-1.

Garden City scored their lone goal of the game in the 32nd minute of the contest and were blanked from that point forward.

Butler scored fast and in a hurry in the second half finishing with six second half goals on their way to their second 10-spot of the season. McAlpine scored the first three goals of the second half before Kenzee Godwin, Morgan Houston and Ashley Hernandez decided to get in on the action. Godwin scored off a rebounded ball in the 71st minute while Morgan Houston collected a pretty pass from Yossi Villagrana scoring the goal in the 76th minute. The Grizzlies 10th goal of the game would come from Ashley Hernandez, who scored her first collegiate goal of her career in the 82nd minute of the match receiving the pass from Natalie Amaya and shooting it past the keeper.

The Grizzlies stay atop the KJCCC standings sitting at 6-0 in conference play. They have outscored their conference opponents 40-2 in the last six games.

Butler will continue KJCCC play as they take to the road for four straight road contests. They will be in Overland Park, KS on Wednesday September 29th for a 7:00pm match against the Johnson County Cavaliers. They will make road trips to Arkansas City, Great Bend and Kansas City Kansas before returning home on October 16th.
