Grizzlies close out regular season with 2-0 win over Johnson County

The Butler soccer team closed out the regular season with a 2-0 win over Johnson County Sunday afternoon at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.

With the win, Butler finishes 14-4-1 overall and 12-1 in Jayhawk conference play and will start preparations for the Region VI Playoffs. The Grizzlies will host Dodge City on Sunday, October 31 at 1:00pm in El Dorado.

It was the Joy Ngibuini show today as the freshman from Topeka, KS scored the only two goals of the day. Her first came on a breakaway where Ngibuini shedded her defender and punched it past the keeper in the 39th minute. She scored her second goal of the game (9th this season) early in the second half off a great assist from Kenzee Godwin.

Butler kept the Cavaliers at bay all match allowing just six shots while staying on the attack most of the afternoon finishing with 11 shots, six of which were on goal.

Kyrah Klumpp picked up her sixth shutout of the season finishing with three saves in the match.

The Grizzlies will host Dodge City in the opening round of the Region VI Tournament at home on Sunday, October 31 at 1:00pm.
