Grizzlies get out of Dodge unscathed; stay unbeaten in KJCCC action

The Butler Grizzlies picked up another conference victory, this time picking up a road win in Dodge City as the Grizzlies defeated the Conquistadors 2-0 in western Kansas on Saturday evening.

Carla Apodaca and Ashton Conley split goalkeeper duties as the duo combined for a shutout, stopping all three Conquistador shots on goal for the third shutout of the season.

Joy Ngibuini opened up the scoring in the 19th minute of the match, scoring her second goal of the year with a header. Butler took the one goal lead into halftime and then quickly doubled it, when Kaitlin Erwin scored her third of the year to put the Grizzlies up 2-0, a lead that they would keep for the rest of the game.

The Grizzlies improve to 8-2-1 on the year with the victory, and 4-0-1 in conference play and they're now unbeaten in five games including Wednesday's tie with Coffeyville in El Dorado.

Next up for Adam Hunter's squad is another western Kansas road trip as they travel to Broncbuster Stadium next Saturday for a date with Garden City. The Grizzlies return home for a match against Neosho on Wednesday, October 28th.
