Grizzlies win fifth straight with 5-3 victory on the road in Kansas City

The sixth ranked Butler Grizzlies picked up their fifth straight win as they cruised to a 5-3 victory on the road at Kansas City Kansas on Wednesday.

The Grizzlies never trailed in this one, and were dominant on the attacking side of the ball. Madeline Bowman got the scoring started for Butler just seven minutes into the game, scooping up a loose ball off a corner kick and delivering it into the net off an assist from Brooklyn Hunter for her fourth goal of the season. Brooke Sullivan doubled the lead 11 minutes later, registering her 10th goal of the year to double the lead. Just three minutes after the Blue Devils got on the board to cut the lead, Morgan Fischer scored what was easily the best goal of the day, curling in a shot from outside the box. Butler took a 3-2 lead into the half.

If there were any doubts with the one goal lead coming out of halftime, they were put to bed in the 60th minute when Emma Kolbe found the net for the fifth time this season, with Brooklyn Hunter registering her second assist of the night. It was Kenzee Godwin putting the stamp on the night for the Grizzlies, as she scored for the 11th time this season, putting the match away in the 68th minute off an assist from Fischer, her second point of the match.

Butler racked up 20 shots in the match, putting 10 of them on frame. Kyrah Klumpp was solid in the net all night, finishing with eight saves.

Butler's record improves to 12-2-1 overall and 8-0-1 in conference play. The Grizzlies return home Saturday night for a match with Johnson County at BG Products Stadium at 6:00pm.
