LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Butler outdoor track and field team had four top 10 finishes at the 87th Kansas Relays, which was held at the new Rock Chalk Park facility this past weekend.
Butler sophomore Alfred Larry medaled individually in two events and helped the men's 4x100-meter relay team to an eighth-place finish. Larry took fourth in the 400-meter dash with a finals time of 48.24 seconds, as well as seventh in the 200-meter dash (21.70 seconds).
Larry, Steven Calloway, Justin Breaux and Deandre Wade placed eighth in the 4x100m relay with a 41.46 finals time. In Friday's preliminaries, the team ran a season-best 41.33 seconds to qualify for Saturday's finals.
On the women's side, the distance medley relay team of Janell Kidd, Terra Flores, Tricia Trupe and Lindi Young finished ninth with a time of 14:08.53. In the 400-meter hurdles, Ashanna Hodge missed out on making Saturday's finals by nearly a half-second. Hodge's season-best time of 1:03.71 was the top junior college finish at the meet.
Next up for the Butler track team will be the Region VI Outdoor Championships, which will be held May 1-3 in Arkansas City.
