Women have six top 10 finishers at Pitt State Invitational

PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Butler women's track and field team had six finishers place in the top 10 on Saturday at the Pittsburg State Invitational at Harvey Dean Track.

Sophomore Conangela Senior had the top individual performance for the Grizzlies, placing third in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:21.61. Grizzly sophomore Roshae Burrell finished ninth at 2:24.74.

Butler also had two athletes place in the 200-meter dash, with sophomore Charnice Anderson taking fifth in the event with a time of 24.85 seconds. Freshman Reina Ryan finished eighth, crossing the finish line at 25.08 seconds.

In the distance medley relay, the team of Jeanna Baker, Burrell, Senior, and Jade Searles finished fifth with a time of 12:50.41.

Butler had one top-10 placing in field events, with sophomore Jalicia Neil taking eighth in the high jump. Neil's top clearance was 1.61 meters (5' 1/4").

Kylia Smith had the top qualifying time to advance to the 60-meter dash preliminaries, running a time of 7.69 seconds. Smith finished 12th in prelims, missing out on finals.

Next up for the Grizzlies will be the Herm Wilson Invitational in the Heskett Center at Wichita State University on February 2-3.
