Butler women place ninth at NJCAA Outdoor Championships

The Butler women placed ninth at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.

Butler scored 28 points and placed in eight different events, including a pair of third-place finishes at the three-day meet.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Kai Lewis, Charnice Anderson, Tashoy Blake and Kylia Smith had the best relay finish for the Grizzlies, placing third in the race with a time of 45.35 seconds.

Sophomore Jayne Roberts also placed third in the pole vault competition, as she cleared 3.45 meters (11'-3 3/4") on her third attempt.

Anderson finished fifth in the 200-meter dash (23.45 seconds), while sophomore Jalicia Neil took fifth in the high jump (1.63 meters / 5'-4 1/4").

On Thursday, the Butler 4x800-meter relay team of Conangela Senior, Jade Searles, Jeanna Baker and Roshae Burrell placed sixth with a time of 9:40.93.

Butler had two seventh-place finishes during Saturday's finals in the 400-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay. Freshman sprinter Reina Ryan ran a time of 55.03 seconds in the 400, while the team of Davia Smith, Tashoy Blake, Rebekah Hamilton and Roshae Burrell had a seventh-place time of 3:48.19.

Senior also placed eighth in the 800-meter run, finishing at 2:19.08.
